Grooming policy

Matted Dogs
Dogs with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming session. Mats left in a dog’s coat only grow tighter, can strangle the dog’s skin, or eventually tear it open. VIP does not wish to cause serious or undue stress to your dog and will not continually de-mat your dog if seriously matted, instead, may require the coat to be shaved. When necessary, removing a heavily matted coat includes risk of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet’s skin allowing mould, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to re-grow. If the dog requires veterinarian treatment due to any of the above, this will NOT be at VIP’s cost.
Aggressive Behaviour
Owners MUST inform Very Important Pooch (VIP) if your dog(s) bites, has bitten, or is aggressive to people, other pets or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. Muzzling will not harm your pooch and protects both the pet and the groomer. VIP reserves the right to stop services for such dog (s) at any time during the grooming process and charge an Aggressive Dog Fee of $50 in addition to the regular grooming charge, even after the original price has been quoted.
Vaccination and Worming
Puppies must have received their C5 vaccination 10 days prior to attending the salon. Proof of vaccination is required for all puppies less than 6mths old. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure their pet is vaccinated and wormed. We have strict cleaning protocols in place to reduce the risk of spreading disease. We will not be liable for any vet related costs due to illness in unvaccinated pets.
Safety & Welfare
To help us ensure the safety and welfare of the pet, the owner must inform the salon staff of the following:

If the dog needs to be isolated from other dogs in the salon

If the dog has any fleas, ticks, or parasites

If the dog has a heart condition or a pre-existing medical condition, illness or injury.

If the dog is recovering from a recent surgery.

If the dog is under any form of sedation. If sedation is required, the customer will be referred to a vet clinic.
The service may be refused or ceased if the service is deemed a risk to the pet and owners may be asked to collect their dog.
Veterinarian Treatment
In the unlikely event that veterinary treatment is required which has an imminent impact on a pet’s health, the owner gives consent for this establishment to seek treatment for the pet at the closest local veterinary clinic.
The owner will be contacted as soon as possible to advise of any incident or condition noticed or occurring during the service. The service will not be completed until either; the owner is contacted and permission to continue is granted or consent obtained and recorded for veterinary assessment, with the owners aware of any costs that may be involved.
We will not be liable for any vet related costs due to health issues arising from;

Pre-existing medical conditions

Matted coats which may result in clipper rash, minor nicks and cuts

Exposing pre-existing hot spots and sores
Appointment Cancellation and Late Policy
Late Arrival: If you are running late for your appointment, please inform us as soon as possible. If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, we reserve the right to consider it a cancellation.
Cancellation Policy: We understand that plans may change. We kindly ask for at least 48 hours' notice for appointment cancellations.
Photography
We may take and use pictures of your dog for social media, advertising, and education purposes. If you do not wish for us to take any photographs of your dog, and to be used for these purposes, you must notify us at the time of your appointment. All images will be copyright of VIP.
